Overview:

Lithocholic acid is a secondary bile acid, also known as cholelithic acid, 3Α-hydroxycholanic acid, lithocholic acid, 3Α-alkanoic acid, lithocholic acid, 3-hydroxycholic acid, and lithocholic acid. In the bile of higher vertebrates. Its molecular structure contains both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups, so the three-dimensional configuration of bile acids has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties, which makes bile acids have strong interfacial activity. After reviewing the literature, it was found that lithocholic acid has many pharmacological activities, such as inhibiting tumor growth, selectively killing breast cancer cancer cells, selectively inhibiting the activity of mammalian DNA polymerase, etc.

Classification:

Bile acids are structurally divided into two categories: one is free bile acids, including cholic acid, deoxycholic acid, chenodeoxycholic acid, and lithochalic acid ); the other type is conjugated bile acid, which is formed by combining the above free bile acids with glycine or taurine, mainly including glycocholic acid (glycocholicacid), glycochenodeoxycholateacid (glycochenodeoxycholateacid), taurocholic acid (taurocholateacid) and taurochenodeoxycholateacid (taurochenodeoxycholateacid), etc.

Pharmacological effects:

Lithocholic acid can kill glioma cells and is harmless to normal nerve cells. The specific principle of action: low concentrations of lithocholic acid (LCA) can make BE(2)-m17 and SK-n-MCIXC cells sensitive to hydrogen peroxide-induced A certain concentration of LCA makes the original culture of human neuronal cells have a certain resistance to this type of cell death. LCA can not only kill BE(2)-m17 and SK-n-MCIXC cells by triggering the intrinsic apoptotic cell death pathway driven by mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization and activation of the initiator CASPASE-9, but also by This is achieved through an extrinsic pathway of cell death involving activation of the initiator CASPASE-8. These intrinsic and extrinsic tumor cell death pathways can be interpreted using the apoptosis cascade.

Biological Activity: Lithocholicacid is a bile acid that dissolves fat for absorption.
